After School All-Stars Summer Camp

After School All Stars is currently taking applicants for summer camp at Darby. This is a free program open to current LAUSD students TK - 6th grade.

Summer camp will be open from June 17th to July 26th from 8:00AM - 6:00PM.

Applications can be picked up from Darby’s main office. Please call Dina for more info at 323-240-5491.

BMX Freestyle Assembly

BMX Freestyle Assembly!
Darby PTA is excited to sponsor an action-packed, super fun assembly for our students!
The BMX Freestyle team will be performing a BMX stunt show that’s highly entertaining and also includes powerful and influential messages for our students.
The show will be on June 6th, on campus, during school hours for students only, and is paid for by Darby PTA.

Talent Show

Darby's 18th Annual Talent Show is on Friday, May 24, 2024. We are excited to bring the Talent show back in-person after being available virtually since 2020.

Those of you participating in Darby's “Shine Like a Star” Talent Show should submit a signed parent permission slip and media release forms below.

Parents, be sure to check your child’s folder for Talent show information and have your child return the signed permission slip for your child to participate in the Talent show. Please make sure to provide your child’s music on a CD or a flash drive by April 5th. If you have any further questions, please check the display case outside of the Parent Center for more information or email the Talent Show Co-Chairs at Darbytalentshow@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing all of the performers at the Talent Show on Friday, May 24th.

Darby PTA Association Meeting

Join us for our PTA Association Meeting!

All current PTA members are welcome. If you need to renew your membership or would like to join PTA, please SIGN UP HERE. Membership for Darby PTA is only $10.

Meeting Date: May 15, 2024

Meeting Time: 7:00 - 8:00 PM

Register in advance for this meeting by clicking HERE .

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

By participating in association meetings, general members have the opportunity to make motions, provide input on agenda items and make collective decisions by voting on actions for a PTA.

They also vote to approve programs and activities recommended by the executive board. And, they are responsible for adopting budgets and audits as well as approving the expenditures of a PTA.

Our next spirit day is Tuesday, May 14th.

The theme is Aloha Day!

Say Aloha to summer by wearing your Hawaiian shirt and tropical accessories. 🌺 🌺 🌺

Dress code still applies. Please no costumes and proper school shoes only.

The Kona Ice truck will be parked on Darby Avenue in front of our school’s main gate from 1:38-3:38. Get a Klassic size Kona Shaved Ice for only $2! All Darby families are welcome!

Our Plane Awesome Teachers are traveling the World of Celebration.

We have added fun ideas on how our kind flight attendant students can join in on the fun.

Below is an itinerary of weekly suggestions of ways you can contribute to the fun of showering our teachers and staff with the appreciation they deserve! Please also see the list of your teacher’s favorite things below.

These ideas are all optional. If you have other ideas or would like to show your appreciation to teachers and staff in different ways, please feel free!

In addition, Darby PTA will stock up the teachers’ lounge with snacks and breakfast items throughout the week as well as provide a catered lunch for teachers and staff on Friday the 10th.

Thank you for your support and thank you to our teachers for going above and beyond for our students!

Beautification Day

Darby Beautification Day 2024!

Help us beautify the Friendship Garden! We need volunteers to help garden and finish painting a mural!

Join us!

Saturday, April 27th 2024

8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Location: “Friendship Garden” on the Darby Ave. side of the campus, immediately south of the TK classrooms

Items needed

25-35 adult volunteers, kids welcomed

Water and Light Refreshments

For the garden Bring your tools! We need: 

Weed pulling tools

Weedwhacker

Work gloves

Planting soil

Wild-flower seed or ready-to-plant low-maintenance flowers

Outdoor benches if possible

Wood chip to cover 40 feet by 1 foot

For the Mural

Paint to finish mural

Paint brushes

Tarp

The Plan..

This year's Beautification Day will focus on the Friendship Garden located on the Darby Ave. side of the campus, immediately south of the TK classrooms. The garden is approximately 34 feet wide by 40 feet long and is overgrown with weeds. There is a 32-foot-wide unfinished mural that needs to be finished and there are (5) 24-inch by 24-inch planter boxes that need fresh soil and plants. 

The rest of the garden must have the weeds pulled up and overgrown bushes removed. There are 2 small concrete benches but it would be great to be able to add more outdoor seating so that students can use that space.

All baskets will be on display during the Open House on April 23rd.

The Cinnabon truck will be at Darby on Thursday, December 14th from 2:00-4:00.

Please stop by and purchase some hot, gooey cinnamon rolls for your family! Cinnabon will give Darby PTA 20% of all sales.
